App for motorsport teams

Rally (asphalt / gravel): the whole team sees the same countdown

The manager sets the service break on their phone, mechanics get a push notification, and the Android TV in the pit shows a big “Departure” countdown.

RallyTimer is a web and mobile app (PWA) with an Android TV companion, built for racing teams – not for organisers or fans. For Rally (asphalt / gravel) it shows a countdown labelled “Departure”, the current time, the team logo and sponsor logos. The price is €49 per vehicle per year (VAT excluded); the first 15 days are free.

This page also applies to: Rally Sprint, Historic Rally, Regularity rally

The problem it solves

In the service park the crew has a fixed window – typically 15, 30 or 45 minutes – and every extra minute is a penalty. Mechanics ask “when do we leave?”, the manager does the maths on paper and one phone gets passed around. RallyTimer calculates departure from arrival time and window length and shows it in big digits on a TV the whole service park can see.

What it looks like on race day

  1. 1

The manager creates the event on their phone and adds a break: service start time and the “Departure” moment.

  2. 2

Mechanics assigned to the vehicle get a push notification including notes on what needs to be done.

  3. 3

An Android TV in the pit, paired by QR code, shows the big countdown, current time and sponsor logos.

  4. 4

When the schedule changes, the TV and every phone update within two seconds. Time runs on the server clock, not the device clock.

Rally (asphalt / gravel) – Departure

Features

TV Countdown

Connect an Android TV in the service zone or pit box and mechanics can instantly see how much time remains until the end of service or until the cutoff before the start. The screen displays a large countdown (days hours:minutes:seconds), current time, key times tailored to your sport (Arrival/Duration/Departure for rally, or Gate close/Pit lane close/Grid close for other disciplines), team logo, and sponsor logos on the right side. The countdown syncs automatically with the server – just turn on the TV and pair it with your account.

Push Notifications

Mechanics receive push notifications on their phone for every service break change (new break, time change, cancellation) and automatically 5 minutes before the crew's planned arrival at the service zone. Notifications also include notes about what needs to be done on the car – so mechanics can prepare before the vehicle arrives.

Mobile App (PWA)

Install RallyTimer on your phone as a native app directly from the browser – no need to download from Google Play or App Store. Works on both Android and iOS. View all service breaks, countdown, and notifications right in your pocket.

A service clock for the service park – without the box

Most teams still run the service countdown on a dedicated LED “service clock” costing €120–250: one function, batteries, buttons operated in gloves, and nothing for the mechanics who are not at the tent right now. RallyTimer does the same on any Android TV you already have in the service park – set from a phone, times from the server, push notifications to mechanics, sponsor logos on screen. A year costs less than one clock.

How we compare with Rally Clock and LED clocks

To be fair: Rally Clock is a Polish web tool for rally teams built on the same basic idea. The differences we think matter:

What RallyTimer is not

RallyTimer is not timing software for organisers (like Apex Timing or TSL) and not live tracking for fans (like RaceTracker). It is a tool for the service crew: break planning, mechanic notifications and a countdown on the pit screen.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need special hardware?
No. A phone with a browser and any Android TV or TV box (from about €40). No transponders or data loggers.
Does it work without internet in the paddock?
No – normal use needs an internet connection. The web and mobile app load data from the server and show a “You are offline” page without it. If the connection drops, only an already loaded countdown keeps ticking: in the open app on a phone and on the TV, which keeps the last downloaded data and synchronised server time and shows an “Offline” flag. Schedule changes reach it only after the connection is back. Plan for mobile data on a phone and a hotspot or Wi-Fi for the TV in the paddock.
What does it cost for a team with several vehicles?
The subscription is €49 per vehicle per year (VAT excluded). Each vehicle has its own countdown, its own TV and its own mechanics. The first 15 days are free for one vehicle.
How does the Rally (asphalt / gravel) countdown differ from rally?
Classic rally counts down a service window (arrival – duration – departure). For Rally (asphalt / gravel) the app switches to a countdown to a fixed moment labelled “Departure” and adapts the form, notifications and TV screen accordingly.
Which languages are supported?
Web, mobile app, TV app, e-mails and invoices are available in 29 languages including English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Polish, Czech and Slovak.
